Getting Around
It's only about an hour’s drive south of the state capital Brisbane, and with a regional airport at Coolangatta, the delights of the Gold Coast are easy to access. Bus services go to lots of attractions.

If you want to make use of a resort's Kid's club, check its availability during your stay. Some resorts only operate a kid's club during school holidays or offer a more restricted program in school term time.

Beaches Glorious Beaches
The Gold Coast specialises in long white sandy beaches, the famous being the beach at Surfers Paradise. Most major beaches are patrolled by surf life savers.
The calmer estuary conditions of Currumbin and Tallebudgera Creek are perfect for toddlers, while smaller waves at Greenmount and Rainbow Bay are popular with young families.
South Stradbroke Island
Home of the rare Golden Wallaby with undeveloped beauty and tropical bushland. Waters are safe for swimming and water sports.
Lamington National Park

Tropical Fruit World
Tropical Fruit World is a working fruit plantation. In the Plantation Pavilion, you can buy tropical fruits, snacks, natural skin care products and gourmet food items. Purchase a Park Admission Ticket to enjoy the plantation safari and fruit tasting shows.
Australian Outback Spectacular Oxenford
The huge 1,000 seat arena is the setting for a nightly dinner show of Australian stock horses, stampeding cattle, helicopter mustering and thrill-a-minute action and larger-than-life bush characters.
Beenleigh Historical Village
Beenleigh lies to the north of the Gold Coast. The Historical Village boasts more than twenty of the area’s oldest buildings including public buildings and period houses.
Springbrook Observatory
Springbrook lies behind the Gold Coast in the hinterland. It’s a great place for a day out, and what better way to finish than with a trip to the Observatory. View the stars and planets, weather permitting. Entry is free for children although adult donations are encouraged.

Sea World, Main Beach
At Seaworld, you can experience rides, shows and attractions with a marine theme, including the ever-popular performing dolphins, as well as the water-skiing show, sharks and polar bears. For an extra cost, you can enjoy an Animal Adventure, a unique opportunity to get up close with nature.
Currumbin Sanctuary
Witness the twice-daily feeding of the wild lorikeets at the Sanctuary, when flocks of these brightly coloured birds arrive to be fed. There are native animals as well as entertaining and educational shows including the free-flight bird show, the crocodile show and the snake show.
Eagleby Wetland Reserve
A reclaimed wetlands area featuring a range of habitats for 203 Australian native species of birds.
Paradise Country Farm, Oxenford
An Australian farm experience with homestead, outback adventure in a bush setting. Whip cracking, koala cuddles, sheep dog muster and stock horse round up.
David Fleay Wildlife Park, West Burleigh
David Fleay Wildlife Park is home to many native animals, displayed in surroundings similar to their natural habitats. Gold Coast Indy 300
Each October there's a 4 day weekend when Drag Cars, V8 Supercars and more race around the 4.5 km circuit at Surfers Paradise. |
