On the NSW central coast, the scenic and friendly town of Toukley has developed on a peninsula between Tuggerah and Budgewoi lakes. It is a near perfect location for a family holiday - safe swimming, fishing, wind-surfing and boating, pollution-free beaches and stunning scenery.

Toukley holiday information - Central CoastEnhancing the charm of the town - which was first settled by cedar loggers in the 1820s - is a distinct historical flavour.

There’s good prawning and crabbing to be done around the lakes, especially in summer, and in July the town holds an Azalea Festival to honour that beautiful flower. Toukley also claims the southern hemisphere’s largest Senior Citizen’s Centre which caters for the needs of 40,000 during the course of a year.

The F3 freeway, train and bus services make Toukley easily accessible from Sydney and Newcastle, while the central coast’s myriad surf beaches, bush and boating havens and theme parks are only a few minutes drive away.

At Norah Head, 4km east of town, is a lighthouse which is periodically open for inspection. Not open to the public at nearby Noraville, is the lodge once occupied by Edward Hargraves, the man credited with discovering gold near Bathurst, about 200km due west of here, in 1851.
