One of the first choice holiday resorts for both Sydney and Newcastle families, The Entrance sits on a narrow neck of land separating the ocean and Tuggerah Lake at the northern end of the Central Coast tourist region.

This is a natural aquatic playground where you can fill your days swimming, surfing, boating, fishing, prawning or relaxing. The town's resident pelicans are fed each afternoon in Memorial Park, just near Vera’s Watergarden, a unique wading pool with water jets, spouts and cascades, where children are sure to have fun. Memorial Park is also the venue for a craft market held each Saturday and on the open-air stage in the park, regular 'concerts by the sea' are scheduled.

Wyrrabalong National Park protects the last remnants of coastal rainforest in the area. It is divided into two sections, one north of The Entrance, one to the south. There are rocky headlands, sandy beaches, walking trails, lookouts with magnificent coastal views and picnic areas. In the southern section, Crackneck Point Lookout has particularly good views. The northern section extends to the shores of Tuggerah Lake. Further north, Munmorah State Conservation Area has magnificent coastal walks and wildflower displays in the spring.
