Cape Tribulation holiday informationNamed by Captain Cook, Cape Tribulation is an incredibly beautiful stretch of coast, with the rainforest sweeping down to the crystal clear waters of the Coral Sea. To the south lies the granite majesty of Queensland's third highest peak, Thornton Peak. Cape Tribulation lies about halfway between Cairns and Cooktown and with recent improvements to the access roads, it is becoming increasingly popular with tourists.

Cape Tribulation lies within its own section of Daintree National Park, and the rainforest is protected by its World Heritage listing. There are numerous walks in the area as well as a boardwalk at the cape itself. Or perhaps you would prefer to take a boat cruise through the mangroves along Cooper Creek looking for estuarine crocodiles. A wide range of other tours and activities can be arranged in the area. For an insight into the rainforest ecosystem, head to Daintree Rainforest Environmental Centre with its spectacular Canopy Tower, which allows visitors to see the rainforest at close quarters from the ground to the canopy.

Cape Tribulation is accessed via the Daintree Ferry at the village of Daintree. The roads are accessible by conventional vehicles except after heavy rain, although some car hire companies may require a four wheel drive to access the cape. You should check local road conditions before starting out.
